The Macro and Micro of Nutrition

Minerals

Examples of essential minerals include calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, sodium, and zinc.

Why You Need Both Macros and Micros

A healthy nutrition plan should include both macronutrients and micronutrients. Focusing on only one side of nutrition can leave gaps in your health, energy, and performance.

Macronutrients provide the fuel your body needs. Micronutrients help your body use that fuel properly.

For example, carbohydrates and fats give you energy, protein helps repair and build muscle, and vitamins and minerals support the processes that keep your body functioning well.
